Questions
What is Skinpal?
Skinpal is a mobile app for people living with topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) and eczema. You log mood, symptoms on a body map, sleep, stress, food and photos in about 30 seconds a day, and Skinpal turns your logs into weekly summaries so you can see what changed over time. It also has a community for people going through the same thing. Skinpal is made by TSW Nordic AB in Gothenburg, Sweden, and was founded by Lukas Löfgren, who has lived with TSW since January 2022. It runs on iPhone and Android in English and Spanish, and costs $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year after a 14-day free trial.
Does Skinpal give medical advice?
No. Skinpal helps you record and look back at your own data. It doesn’t diagnose, treat, or tell you to start, stop or change any treatment. Talk to your doctor about treatment.
What is TSW?
Topical steroid withdrawal describes reactions some people report after stopping long-term use of steroid creams. In 2021 the UK medicines regulator, the MHRA, asked for topical steroids to carry warnings about withdrawal reactions. Read more in our TSW guide.
What happens to my data and photos?
Your data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS, and we never sell it. You can ask us to delete your account and your health data at any time. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
Which phones and languages?
iPhone and Android, in English and Spanish.
The mental toll
TSW wears people down in ways most never see, and many go through it alone. Depression is common, and some people have thoughts of suicide during severe flares. If that’s you, it’s not a weakness. Please talk to someone today.
